Smell Like Jackie O!

Style icon, beloved philanthropist, patron of the pillbox hat. You can call Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis a lot of things, but until this month, “fragrance inspiration” was missing from her long list of attributes. Enter the house of Creed, which, with the debut of their new violet-Oriental scent, pays homage to the woman who kicked off 50-plus years of oversize-sunglasses popularity.
With “Love in Black,” sixth-generation perfumer Olivier Creed documents places and pastimes that were dear to the former First Lady’s heart: Virginia cedar, reminiscent of where she rode her beloved horses; night-blooming wildflowers from the Greek isle where she wed Aristotle Onassis; irises from Florence, a city that she visited frequently; and French blackcurrant, evocative of her heritage and passion for things Gallic. While Jackie was undeniably one of a kind, Creed has gotten impressively close to bottling the special brand of chic for which she is so fondly remembered. Personally I am so happy to see this homage to Jackie O. Many women to this day still pause before a purchase and ask themselves Would Jackie Wear This? It seems to be the ultimate litmus test when buying a basic classic piece for your wardrobe that you will get years of wear from.
